I heard it the first time end of last week then last night to this morning and sounds like coming from up front like under the hood

This sounds very much like a problem inside the power steering pump. If you have a good mechanic shop that you know, I would have them check that before anything else.
It is also possible that the power steering fluid level is low, you can check that easily by yourself.

I believe that was topped off like while ago when I got my oil changed but that was maybe over 1000 miles ago

If there is a leak in the power steering hoses or the steering rack, the fluid level will drop. This will cause a humming noise.
