You don't need to worry about the trac. light just the check engine light , once you get the codes for that and solve or repair that , you can clear the codes with the scan-tool and they both should go out

I tightened the gascap and took off the battery connections for 5 mins. Lights went off and back up & running.

ok that maybe all it takes but it would be best to check the codes first so that you know what the issue really is. And most parts stores can give you the codes for free.
