Hello, the battery will have a maximum of 12.6 volts on its own. If it reads 13 while running it should be charging. So you should be ok. The voltage should go up as you raise the [engine](/topics-engine-toyota/) rpm as well. Any auto parts store can double check the charging system operation for you as well.

Yes so it should be charging and it should increase with higher engine rpm as well. You can turn on some loads like the blower fan and the high beam headlamps and it should drop some but come back up and charge if it is working properly.

The battery is 12.6 max voltage as storage device. The alternator when charging will run 13-14 volts to top off the voltage in the batter and run the vehicle and its electronic accessories. The Alternator recharges the battery
