Do headlights ALWAYS need alignment when replaced, even when its just new bulbs (low beams in this case) and the exact same kind as the old ones? Mechanic's Assistant: Have you checked the fuses? Have you checked the bulbs? Bulbs were successfully replaced and turn on. Mechanic's Assistant: What is the make/model/year of your car? 2012 Subaru forester. Mechanic's Assistant: Are you fixing your Forester yourself? What have you tried so far? Yeah i did the repair. Burnt out headlight so i replaced both of em (low beams) Mechanic's Assistant: Anything else you want the Mechanic to know before I connect you? No. Im just wondering if simply replacing bulbs without moving anything else requires alignment.

Hello this is Zach and I will assist you today. You may receive an automated message for a phone call from Just Answer. It is an optional service. Headlights do not need to be aligned when head lamp bulbs are replaced. The only time an alignment will be needed is if the headlight assembly is not mounted straight due to an accident or incorrect installation. If you replaced the bulb, and it appears to be shining incorrectly. The bulb is not seated correctly in the lamp housing. Are your lamps mounted solidly to the mounting points?

Thank u, totally makes sense. Yeah everything mounted solid, new bulbs in exact same place old ones were. Im a semi-pro mechanic so i doubted any need for alignment but its my dads car and he demanded that i investigate.

Your welcome. I completely understand. In the future, if you were to have a misaligned headlight. Check the bulb installation first before adjusting the lamp. Thank you for allowing me to assist you today. If you have any other questions in the future, you may request me. have a great day, take care. Zach
