No problem. Can you please share with me what exactly you added to your 370z? Do you have a web Link to the product so I can review the information?

I put a whole new motor into my car, and since i have a cold air intake system i put 2 new maf sensors, new upstream and downstream o2 sensors, connected everything and put everything back together but when i started the car with the new motor and sensors it was in limp mode my vdc light was on and wouldn’t go off and i was getting mass air flow sensor a circuit and o2 sensorCodes being thrown when they are all newWhen i say limp mode i mean the gas pedal is to the floor and it barely brings the rpm to 1k and mac it goes is 2.5ki was wondering if this is happening because the ecu has to be reprogrammed for the new motor?Or the motor itself such as the cams and such
Automotive Expert
The new MAF sensors, where did you buy them? What codes are you getting?

I got those and the o2 sensors from ebay ill send the link

Automotive Expert
Well, the first thing I can tell you, if you got them off Ebay, they are most likely aftermarket and aftermarket sensors never work. That can certainly be part of your issue. Why did you change the engine exactly?

Customer attachment 12/19/2020 2:06:35 AM

My original engine hydrolocked and the pistons got warped so it was cheaper to by a new engine from what my mechanic told me
Automotive Expert
Is that all the codes you are getting?

the other are manufacture control
Automotive Expert
Please provide me with all the codes you are getting please

THE P1089 IS A VVEL CONTROL SHAFT POSITION SENSOR CODE. This is a used engine?

correct
Automotive Expert
This code can certainly cause issues. There is VVEL Motor on the back of each cylinder head. If they are both not working in sequence, then the car will go into limp mode.

i need to change those sensors outIn the back of the motor correct?
Automotive Expert
[https://www.dropbox.com/s/7xc0i43tv9165pl/1%20VVEL%20code%2010%20370x.jpg?dl=0](https://www.dropbox.com/s/7xc0i43tv9165pl/1%20VVEL%20code%2010%20370x.jpg?dl=0) I would check all fuses with a test light. Make sure it's plugged in. If plugged in, then that sensor may require replacement but needs to be installed and calibrated with a scanner. You can't just install it.

Okay i just saw that the connector from the harness for the vvel on the passenger side is broken
Automotive Expert
That is the one that the code is for. So you will need to repair that

that would mean that i would have to get that fix if that doesn't fix it i would need to take the car to nissan so it can be calibrated correct
Automotive Expert
If the sensor is damaged, then the sensor would need to be replaced by the dealer and so it can be installed and calibrated properly for it to work.

Okay sounds good that should fix the limp mode correct?
Automotive Expert
I would certainly think so. But you certainly 100% have to start with that.

Okay so the sensor can only be purchased at a nissan dealership i can buy it at autozone or napa correct? Because its not showing up when i do a google searchCant\*
Automotive Expert
Stay away from aftermarket electrical parts. They are known not to working right and can cause false codes and have you replacing more parts than you need. When it comes to electrical parts, stick with the dealer.

Okay i have spare vvel actuators and sensor that worked on my old motor could i just use those since there was nothing wrong with them?
Automotive Expert
Yes.. ! would certainly remove it and have the dealer install it for you

Okay sounds good thank you!

Hey jay its me again when i called nissan to see if they could help me they said that the wouldnt touch my car as it can be a liability since my personal mechanic but work into the motor also they said that i dont need to go to them to calibrate the vvel camshaft sensor/actuator on the back of the motor they said if i just disconnect the battery for 1 min and reconnect it the ecu should fix it, which didnt make much sense to me
Automotive Expert
I am sorry to hear that the dealer will not help you with this. At this rate, I would start by getting the VVEL position sensor and you know you need it anyway, and work on replacing that. Then see. If you need calibrations for it. Then get hold of a tuner

I have the sensor from the other motor that worked perfectly fine so im just gonna switch those out and hopefully it wont need calibrations but if i do ill just look for a tuner
Automotive Expert
ok!

But is it true that disconnecting the battery for 1 min could recalibrate the sensor? Cause that sounded odd to me
Automotive Expert
No, disconnecting the negative battery cable for 15 mins clears the codes and the corrective learning

all it would do is clear the codes and not help at all, well they weren't very helpful
Automotive Expert
yes

Thanks again jay I appreciate it! Just wanted to make sure what they told me had any use to it!
Automotive Expert
you are very welcome

Hey jay i had a question again may sound like a broken record but i was just wondering i have the vvel position sensor from my old motor can i just switch those sensors out to the new motor or i have to take out the whole actuators and sensors to replace?
Automotive Expert
You need to swap the whole actuator over with the sensor.

Alright sounds good thank you
Automotive Expert
You are very welcome
