Hello there, many faults will cause your 2005 Chevrolet Equinox to start then die. The most likely causes for your vehicle are the crankshaft position sensor, MAF sensor, fuel pump relay, ignition coil, or a wiring harness fault. If the vehicle starts after it cools off this indicates an intermittent issues that is only present when the vehicle is at temperature, this can occur when a part is beginning to fail but has not fully failed yet. A qualified Technician such as one from YourMechanic will be able to diagnose your car starts than dies and make any repairs required to resolve the issue.

High idling on cold start
Hi there thanks for writing in about your 2006 Lincoln Zephyr. This sounds like a failing idle air control valve issue (https://www.yourmechanic.com/services/idle-control-valve-replacement). If this is confirmed, and the valve is replaced, there is also a 'relearning" process for the engine...

No heat in car and engine light on for overheating
Hi There, Your heating issue may be due to a faulty heater blower motor or potentially a bad heater core (https://www.yourmechanic.com/services/heater-is-not-working-inspection). As you may know, the heater core is a small radiator like unit that circulates the hot coolant from...
Climate control module. Heater core

On a 2001 Chevy Cavalier 2.4 L DOHC do you have tocompletely remove the timing chain cover to remove valve cover?
The cover (or "housing") is not removed. You merely disconnect the timing chain housing at the camshaft housing, but do not remove it from the vehicle. There are specific torque values required on all the fasteners so be sure to...
Starter keeps going after car is on. When i turn the key just to see the dash the car starts and it keeps trying to start.
Hi Omar. Thanks for contacting us tonight. The starter problem you are describing is probably the starter solenoid, a power switch (integrated into the starter assembly) that takes a small current from the ignition switch and engages a large current...
Sparking Dipstick/Oil Tube
The vehicle is "probably" safe to drive but to give you a truly informative and intelligent answer, the vehicle would have to undergo a safety inspection (https://www.yourmechanic.com/services/75-point-safety-inspection) which is not a bad idea in any event given that the car...
