Mechanic's Assistant: Can you turn the steering wheel at all? And what about the key? Is it worn or damaged?
Steering wheel can be turned but then would lock if moved too far, as for starting it’s a touchless key system and key is in fine condition
Mechanic's Assistant: What is the make/model/year of your car?
2007 Mazda CX-7
Mechanic's Assistant: Are you fixing your CX-7 yourself? What have you tried so far?
Have been trying to diagnose myself so far, it sat out in the cold so was worried it was the battery so pushed it into neighbours heated garage and then charged and checked battery and it read 12.58V so seemed okay, then checked fuses and relays to see if they were good, thought it might be related to the key so changed the keys battery, then put a code reader on it and it gave U0100 and U2064, tried clearing them but they came right back and nothing changed
Mechanic's Assistant: Anything else you want the Mechanic to know before I connect you?
That should cover it all I think

The codes indicates one or more modules has lost communication. Even though the voltage are good in the battery, its very possible the amps are low and you may need a new battery. I highly suggest installing a new battery if one hasn't been replaced the last 3 years.

A faulty battery or module failure.

Other than the battery change is there anything you'd recommend trying ?

No, anything else will require a bi-directional scan tool that can connect with all modules and perform testing procedures.

if the battery swap doesn't work, should I take it in somewhere to get looked at ?

Yes, if this does not work then you may have more serious issues.

Changed the battery now, still no cranking from the engine. The other codes are gone but now got a C1306 code, any ideas ?

I believe the body control module or another module has failed.
Still not sure what you need?

Hello! Thank you for writing in about this problem. This issue is common in 2005-2011 Tacoma models. Toyota recently released Technical Service Bulletin (TSB) TC-14-025 that specifically covers this problem. An extended warranty has been placed on the headlamp assemblies...
A faulty idle air control valve would cause the exact issues you describe. The idle air control valve will be located right next to the throttle body inlet. The idle air control valve controls the idle speed of the engine....
Hello. If this only occurs at highway speeds, then you may have pressure build up in the cooling system. This is typically caused by a leaking head gasket. If there is a slight leak, then combustion pressure will build up...
For one, these codes are for a lean condition and are not O2 sensor specific codes. It is true that some of the newer Fords have an issue with the purge valve staying on, putting a vacuum on the system...
This sounds like the battery is weak and cannot hold a charge very well. Have the battery tested to see if a replacement is needed. Then check charging system to make sure it is in good working order. Your problem...
It does sound like an issue with the pressure switch (https://www.yourmechanic.com/services/ac-pressure-switch-replacement). When the switch fails, the compressor will not come on. Bypassing it turns on the compressor, which changes the pressure and allows the system to work. I would also...
You should have the vehicle checked to see if the engine is not running hot enough or the coolant sensor is not reading the correct temperature causing an incorrect gauge reading from the engine actual temperature. If you have already...
Hi There, It sounds like you may have a faulty MAP sensor as your vehicle seems to respond adversely to varying loads being placed on the motor which is what the MAP sensor is designed to do. The Manifold Absolute...
Ignition coils (https://www.yourmechanic.com/services/ignition-coil-replacement) can be individually replaced without concern as to engine operation however fuel injectors are a different matter. If you replace one fuel injector, the other 7 fuel injectors should be removed from the fuel rail and professionally...
