Is the temp gauge going to hot?
Is there warnings coming up ?
Have you scanned for codes?
Are the fans working ?
What conditions does it overheat in?

1) the temp is going too hot it'll give me a warning on the dash saying "engine coolant over temp" then it'll go away and the temp will drop down
2) i haven't scanned for codes
3) the fans are working fine
4) only over heats when i begin to drive it. I've had it on and parked for 30 minutes and no over heating occurred

Ok that sounds like a flow issues with air to the radiator or flow issues internally, the fluid can get junked up pretty good too if you haven't flushed it a few times that may help, also check for any bent fins or obstructions from air getting though to the radiator, if there is aftermarket gill bumper or parts that would need to be considered, and then lastly perform a code scan as the fans may be working but not at full potential which would show a code.

You will need a high level scanner for that, the auto parts store will do a free scan or rent one if you dont have a scanner.

Ok try the flush and check for codes and check flow flow on the radiator and see where that gets you.
