Hello. I have a 2013 Jeep Grand Cherokee. I bought it in 2016/17. The vehicle loses power while driving, but the engine keeps running. The throttle body icon on the dashboard immediately turns on. When I pull over and shut off the car, when I try to restart it the starter trays to turn over. I have to sit on the side of the road for a couple of minutes to 20 minutes and then it will start up every time like nothing happens. When it loses power sometimes there is a "clunk - thud" sound when I accelerate like to get up and go. Sometimes it just does it while I am not giving it any gas, just cruzing. It can do it 3 times in a\*\*\*\*\*or it wont do it for a few weeks with daily driving. We had the throttle body changed and we are you to change the [fuel pump](/topics-fuel-pump-jeep/)....just ordered one
Mechanic's Assistant: Is the power loss consistent, or does it fluctuate?
It is consistent I am so happy to talk to someone about this...thank you
Mechanic's Assistant: Are you fixing your Grand Cherokee yourself? What have you tried so far?
I have brought it to dealer, I had reputable mechanic try fixing it and spent $4000 on things they think it could be. My husband has changed a sensor or 2
Mechanic's Assistant: Anything else you want the Mechanic to know before I connect you?
No that is it Thank you

Ok, besides the wiring harness, there are 3 components of the electronic throttle control system - the electronic throttle body, the APP(accelerator pedal position sensor) and the PCM(powertrain control module)
Based upon both symptoms and prior experience with this vehicle, I suspect either the APP sensor is faulty or the wiring harness that connects to it is faulty, most likely due to stretched wiring going to the harness
Thanks for using Just Answer and letting me help you. I hope I provided what you needed. If you find more help is still needed, let me know by listing out any remaining questions you have on this concern. I hope the remainder of your day is well.

Thank you. We will try to go that direction. I am a nurse, but I have been doing a lot of reading. We have had many suggestions. I don't think we have changed the APP and definitely not the wiring harness to it. Thank you. I will keep this service for awhile.
