Q: Is there a physical difference between trans input and output speed sensor?

asked by on December 22, 2017

My car is limp mode, it reduces me to 55mph sometimes 35mph shifts roughly trans slips sometimes in reverse. Had codes pulled on a basic scanner to a thousand dollar+ scanner code P2767 came up. Which says input/turbine speed sensor no circuit signal and input shaft speed sensor(same code). Seen information online saying both input and output speed sensors needs to be replaced at the same time. Some sites have said other transmission components need to be changed as well. Some I'm just trying to figure what is needed and what place can I get the parts from?

My car has 45000 miles.
My car has an automatic transmission.

This may indicate a failing speed sensor. The transmission speed sensor is a magnetic sensor that provides information related to the speed of the input and output shafts in the transmission, allowing the transmission to shift smoothly. The sensor counts the internal number of revolutions of the transmission and transmits that information to the transmission control unit, where the data is used to determine the rotational speed. As the rotation increases, the control unit directs the changing of gears. When this is not working properly, this may cause the transmission to shift erratically or in some cases not at all. I would recommend having an expert from YourMechanic come to your location to take the car for a test drive to more specifically determine the cause for this.

It sounds like you might be having an electrical issue. I would recommend having your alternator inspected by a qualified professional to determine if it is functioning properly. Alternator failures can cause multiple electrical symptoms that are abnormal.
