Hello, I recently replaced my map sensor, and everything was fine for a while, but my check engine light just turned back on and I’m reading a code that says my map sensor is still messed up. Could this be a problem with the wiring?
Mechanic's Assistant: Does the light stay on, or does it blink?
It just stays on. The car feels shakier now when I’m either in park or idling.
Mechanic's Assistant: What is the make/model/year of your car?
2011 Hyundai Santa Fe GLS 2.4 L engine
Mechanic's Assistant: Are you fixing your Santa Fe yourself? What have you tried so far?
I replaced all of my spark plugs because I had a cylinder 4 misfire, and that code disappeared. I am fixing it myself, yeah. I also bought a new map sensor and replaced it since I was getting a code saying my map sensor wasn’t working. Right after switching everything out the car was performing great, and my gas mileage immediately got better, but it’s shaking now and the light turned back on :/
Mechanic's Assistant: Anything else you want the Mechanic to know before I connect you?
Just that I am not a professional but I do have a code reader if that helps

I'm getting P0106. One of the reasons I'm confused is because, while I'm positive that my car has a map sensor, I can't find a lot of info on my specific year vehicle (2011) on whether or not it ALSO has a maf sensor? I figured it would probably have only one or the other, since I thought they did the same thing, but I just got the map sensor new and right after installing it i was still getting the same code (p0106) however, the check engine light had turned off and the car was performing perfectly until yesterday.I'm also pretty sure I had squirrels in my engine bay because I found a bunch of empty nut shells when I was switching out my spark plugs. I don't know if the squirrels were chewing through wires. I would prefer to make repairs myself both so I can learn and so I can make sure I don't get my chain yanked, but I just don't know where to start.

OK give me a minute to look up some information on it for you
Your car doesn't have a mass airflow sensor . I'm going to 1st send you a wiring diagram , of the engine controls in case you need to track down some squirrel damage

Here is information on checking the code, ideally you would want to view data on a scanner , but if you cant do that you can at least verify voltage

Have a certified mobile mechanic diagnose what's wrong with your car, at your home or office.
A few different faults can cause the vehicle to go into a limp mode. The ECU puts the car into this mode to prevent damage and will be associated with a Check Engine Light. The most likely causes are a...
Hey there, thanks for writing in about your 1998 Altima. You may have a crankshaft (https://www.yourmechanic.com/services/crankshaft-position-sensor-replacement) or camshaft sensor (https://www.yourmechanic.com/services/camshaft-position-sensor-replacement) causing the no start. You can scan the computer and watch the data to see if one or both of...
You need a mechanic to come and check the vehicle to see if the fuel system is leaking onto or into the engine causing the problem. The loud explosion sound may be backfiring and will need to be checked to...
Hi, thanks for writing in. Just like an airplane has a blackbox, newer vehicles are now coming with them as well. This will give information to insurance companies as well as judges about the specifics of a car accident. This...
Hi there. A car that is difficult to start in the morning can be caused by a battery that is losing cold cranking amps, a faulty starter solenoid, distributor or ignition coils that are worn out, or fuel system components...
Hi Alex....yes, that sensor could be a possibility but there are other components in the circuit as well such as relays (that can stick on) and, although not as likely, there are possible wiring faults that can cause continuous power...
Hi there. Usually when a car will stall all of the sudden without warning, it's caused by a restriction of fuel or an electrical glitch with the ignition system. If you've had the throttle position sensor changed, and fuel pump,...
Hi Freddy. Thanks for contacting us today. A few things can illuminate the battery light while driving such as a loose battery temperature sensor, cables that are damaged slightly internally, or a charging system component that is showing signs of...
You can have the problem pinpointed in a rough operation/rough idle diagnostic (https://www.yourmechanic.com/services/car-idle-is-rough-inspection). The responding certified mechanic will perform the required diagnostic steps to get this resolved. Here is a list of some of the possible causes that the mechanic...
