Q: How do you initialize the power windows?

Your windows should operate without too many problems for a long time. However, if you have to replace the battery, or the battery dies and you have to be jumped off, you’ll need to initialize them again. Don’t worry. It’s not that complicated. Here’s how to do it:

1. Turn the ignition to On.

2. Roll the window all the way down.

3. Close the window completely and then continue holding up on the window switch for a full second.

4. Repeat this process for each window.

Tip

Each window has to be initialized from its own switch. You can’t use the master switch on the driver door.
