How can I check if water pump is working
My car has 180000 miles.
My car has an automatic transmission.
Make sure coolant is full. Start the car when engine is cold and let the engine idle. As the engine gets to operating temperature within 3 to 5 minutes, feeling the top radiator hose will start off cold and as soon as the thermostat opens you will feel the hose all of a sudden get hot. This shows the water pump is pumping coolant through the engine.
