Hello and welcome to just answer. My name is \*\*\*\*\* \*\*\*\*\* I will assist you today. I am sorry you are having this transmission issue but hopefully I can help. I am sorry but those transmissions are not the same and not swappable. The 1997 is a CD M4VA model, and the 2001 is a CD MLYA model. You will need to get a MLYA for your 2001 Civic.
