Q: Head Gasket leak

asked by on November 28, 2016

My 2000 forester has 70000 miles with a leaky head gasket. Is it worth fixing or should I trade it in. Very good car otherwise.

My car has 70000 miles.
My car has an automatic transmission.

This is more of a judgment question as to how much you enjoy your car. A head gasket repair job can be costly and may generally run anywhere from $1,000-1,600 depending on the shop doing the repairs and what parts need to be replaced. Assuming your car is worth more than this, I would suggest making the repairs and keeping the car if it is a car you like and enjoy.
