Lately when I start my far it revs up for like 3-5 seconds. Not extremely bad or anything but it is noticeable Mechanic's Assistant: Will the [headlights](/topics-headlight-ford/) turn on? Is the battery fully charged? Yes everything turns on fine and I got a new battery just a year ago so that should all be good Mechanic's Assistant: What is the make/model/year of your car? 2006 Ford fusion SE Mechanic's Assistant: Are you fixing your Fusion yourself? What have you tried so far? I thought maybe it would be my [cruise control](/topics-cruise-control-ford/) or just a throttle sensor but I haven't tried much to actually fix it Mechanic's Assistant: Anything else you want the Mechanic to know before I connect you? I just want to know if it's something serious, this will be my last winter driving this car as my main one so im not looking to put much money into it

Hi, my name is Jay If vehicle is started in cold temperatures it may temporally go to high idle for short periods to keep [engine](/topics-engine-ford/) running and this is normal as long as the idle is not going above about 1200 rpm and then comes down after up to about 10 seconds.

How high is idle going when first started? Does it still do it once engine is warmed up?

I did only notice it start a few months ago when Temps. Dropped. It goes around 1500 RPMs never seen it go past 2000. No around 3-5 seconds right when I start it then never does it while running

This can be a vacuum leak in the intake manifold seals and can leak when cold and as it warms and expands it seals back up. You can just let it warm a minute before driving or have a mechanic check intake manifold for vacuum leaks and may need to replace intake manifold gasket seals.

Convertible stuck open
Hello. This commonly happens on this vehicle for a number of reasons. Most of the time, it is because of a battery voltage loss. It can also happen if one of the sensors are not reading correctly. When either of...
Battery light on and now car won't start
From what you've described, it sounds like a belt broke. All of those systems are belt-driven. A visual inspection would easily confirm this. Don't try to start your engine, as overheating is the main risk for your engine now. I'd...
Starter keeps cranking
You have two starter relays. Check and change the starter relay on the inner fender near the battery. Follow the red battery cable to the inner fender relay and this should be your problem. If you are still having trouble,...
Changed heads. Engine runs great until I put it in gear, then I have no power from transmission, shifts hard, and breaks are hard.
Hey there. Given that you performed a fair amount of engine work and have no doubts with the battery out of the car, it is possible that the throttle position sensor and engine management have lost their "pairing" values and...
Parking brake is locked up.
The car can still be towed. Often, the metal wires cables that control the mechanical parking brake may rust in their insulation and that causes the cable to bind and seize. These systems can fail in both the released position...
My tachometer gauge needle is pointing straight down, and it won't start.
Hi there. Check the crankshaft position sensor and see if there is power to the sensor. If there is power to the sensor, then put leads from a digital meter on the sensor and crank the engine over. Check to...
1999 mazda 626 has no fuel and no spark
It sounds like you may have an issue related to power getting to both the ignition system and the fuel system. I would suggest checking to make sure there is power running to the ignition module and the fuel pump...

These manifolds have 4 bolt holes and may have two bolts and two studs that have nuts with washers.
