It’s 2005 Ford F-150 and no i haven’t
Mechanic's Assistant: Are you fixing your F-150 yourself? What have you tried so far?
Well I replaced the whole front end
Mechanic's Assistant: Anything else you want the Mechanic to know before I connect you?
I’ve tried seeing if the wheel bearing was bad by moving tire up and down

- Can you duplicate this noise in any way in park idling, revving, or while torquing?
- If it only occurs while driving, does swerving or braking affect it?
- Will it occur rolling in neutral? If you cut the [engine](/topics-engine-ford/) off, then turn the key back on and roll with the engine off, does it still occur?

Welcome, Jose.
- Since it only occurs while driving, does swerving or braking affect it?
- Will it occur rolling in neutral? If you cut the engine off, then turn the key back on and roll with the engine off, does it still occur?

Only occurs when i go over 30 mph , and swerving or braking doesn't affect it , it's a steady humming sound

Thanks,
Does the noise come and go and or change tone based on gaining speed with acceleration or when coasting, Jose?

Thanks
Jose, since swerving has no effect normally that rules out the tires and wheel bearings.
Since it occurs while coasting in neutral and with the engine off. That rules out the engine and transmission.
That leaves the most likely cause to be the rear axle. It may be failing axle shaft bearings or the pinion bearing preload is too low.
I recommend removing the rear driveshaft and check the pinion to see if it wobbles or turns too easy. If so, then try tightening the nut 1/8 to 3/16th inch in rotation. Then retest. If the noise is still there, have a tech drive the vehicle. If they believe it is the rear ale then you likely need to rebuild the axle assembly with new gears and bearings.
Thank you for seeking us for help, I hope I provided what was needed. Press reply if you need to follow up. If you liked my answer please let me know so I can mark your question complete. Moose

Have a certified mobile mechanic diagnose what's wrong with your car, at your home or office.
The valve cover gasket is a rubber type seal that keeps oil from coming out of the engine. When the mechanic replaces the seal, they must clean the head surface thoroughly, wipe it down with brake cleaner, and dry the...
All the air that goes into the cars engine is metered. If there is unmetered air coming in somewhere it will be detected by the Oxygen sensors and a lean code will be set. A lean condition will cause a...
Hopefully, its just the starter that is faulty. If the engine did suck in water it may be hydro-locked. You may remove the spark plugs and turn the engine over by hand to remove the water. Worst case scenario is...
Hello. I think what we are looking for here are possible problems caused by a "torque-reversal" in the drivetrain. That is, when accelerating or maintaining road speed, the engine/transmission and all the drive links (driveshafts, differentials, transfer case, etc.) have...
Hi there. These codes (https://www.yourmechanic.com/article/p0016-obd-ii-trouble-code-camshaft-position-a-camshaft-position-correlation-bank-1-by-jay-safford) lead me to believe that the cam/crank timing is out. However, there are possible underlying problems that can set the same codes and give you the symptoms you're describing. You could have a wiring/connector issue...

Hi there. The P0700 trouble code indicates an issue with the vehicle’s transmission control system. This code is a general code, and will usually come accompanied with other, more specific, transmission related codes. A few possible causes are issues with...
There are a number of things that may cause the car to hesitate (https://www.yourmechanic.com/services/engine-hesitates-during-acceleration-inspection) when accelerating such as low fuel pressure, a dirty or faulty mass air flow sensor, clogged or dirty fuel injectors, a faulty throttle position sensor or...
It's possible that there was another problem that was not discovered when you first took the car in. It's also equally possible that there was an error made in the pump replacement. Slide a clean piece of paper or cardboard...
