I have a DTC p2286 code being thrown. I’ve replacing the hpop and the icp sensor and pigtail. I’m looking for the next step to fixing the problem Mechanic's Assistant: Which particular sensor are you asking about? And have any trouble codes been triggered? Injection control pressure sensor. Mechanic's Assistant: What is the make/model/year of your car? And yes the travel code is P2286 Mechanic's Assistant: Are you fixing your vehicle yourself? What have you tried so far? And yes the travel code is P2286 Mechanic's Assistant: Anything else you want the Mechanic to know before I connect you? The early 2004 Ford F2 50 with a 6 L power stroke

I may ask several questions to get more details about your problem. While you are waiting for me to respond I am looking up the workshop manuals and wiring diagrams needed to answer your concerns. **The website will prompt a phone call automatically, not me. So please don't let this automatic service prompt annoy you. If you prefer to talk verses type then please use the phone call option.** Hello, does the truck run? You changed the HPOP as well as the ICP sensor and the pigtail for the icp sensor and it still wont run? What does the ICP read if checked with a scan tool?

Yeah it does run. I drive it everyday
Automotive Expert
Ok, so you clear the code and it comes back? Does it pass a key on [engine](/topics-engine-ford/) off and a key on engine running test? These are on demand tests run with a scan tool.

Yeah I clear the code and it comes back on
Automotive Expert
Since it runs it can be reading the default ICP sensor reading. You need to see if the ICP rolls up and down as it runs with throttle or if it is a flat value. it has to see at least 500 psi. When it is unplugged it will read a default value so it runs. An high circuit fault can mean it is an open or disconnected poor connection to the sensor or a problem with the PCM itself.

It does respond to throttle. The code only shows up when I accelerate.
Automotive Expert
Is the truck all stock?

The code will reset when the truck is started and idles repeatedly but the moment I put it under load the light comes back on.
Automotive Expert
Only thing you can do is run through the pinpoint test for the code which will require testing the wiring from the sensor to the PCM. Do you want the pinpoint test?

As far as I know the only aftermarket part is a full 4-inch [exhaust](/topics-exhaust-ford/). It does have an edge tuner on it but I always run it the stock setting.that would be nice to have the pinpoint test.
Automotive Expert
Here is the test.

Is there any way I could get questions 1-5 of the test?
Automotive Expert
They dont apply, the code starts at Q6.

Does that test still apply for the code p2286? That one shows the code p2285
Automotive Expert
Yes it just asks if 2285 is present it says 2286 in the description of the first step. that is the test for your code.

Ok makes sense is there any sort of a diagram that shows what pin is what and where the ground is located?
Automotive Expert
Ok attached is the diagram of the circuit and there are three different pcm connectors. It is in the last connector as shown. You will have to match uo the wiring colors to identify the correct pcm connector.

Those pictures came across very blurry. Could you try resending them?
Automotive Expert
They are all clear on my end. pcm icp 4 and the icp png are the two main ones you need.

You are using a cell phone, pull it up on a laptop computer. Attachments dont always work properly on a phone.

Ok you're right. When I go to my web browser they are clear.

What does the brake Warning Light mean?
The brake Warning Light is located on your instrument panel. This light will illuminate for two reasons: the parking brake is engaged, or the brake fluid is low. When you notice that the light is on, disengage your parking brake....
Buying a car--2016 Camry V6 with 6-speed auto vs. Accord 6 with the CVT
Yes it is true. I'd go for the Camry (https://www.yourmechanic.com/scheduled-maintenance/toyota-camry/) by far. Those 6-speed autos are tried-and-trusted transmissions. They can last a really long time. For Hondas (https://www.yourmechanic.com/scheduled-maintenance/honda-accord/), it has always had problems with the automatic transmissions and the CVTs...
My car slips on icy roads
All-wheel drive is the best for driving in poor weather conditions (https://www.yourmechanic.com/article/safe-winter-driving-techniques-by-kevin-woo). But, if you hit black ice, it really doesn't matter what set up you have, you're still going to loose traction. In theory, a vehicle with a wide...
Car will not start, not throwing engine codes, just clicks when turning key in ignition and wont turn over
This issue is most likely not due to a fuel pump if you are hearing a clicking sound when turning the key. It is possible that the battery (https://www.yourmechanic.com/services/battery-replacement) may just be discharged. I would recommend taking your battery to...
Is there a on and off switch for traction control?
Hi, thanks for your question. Most Expeditions have traction control for some of the higher line models, but there is not a switch to turn it off.

Hello - you would certainly have air in the brake system after having the brake caliper piston pop out as you describe, which would require bleeding the brakes (https://www.yourmechanic.com/article/what-does-it-mean-to-bleed-your-brakes) to repair, and it's quite likely the caliper piston seal was...

Got into a fender bender, now my car is leaking a lot of red-ish fluid from under my passenger headlight.
The car is not safe to drive with the fluid leaking. It is most likely the transmission line leaking and driving it will damage the transmission. Have the vehicle towed to body shop.
Transmission or axle problem?
Hi there. Unfortunately, that sound you heard was most likely an internal component that has failed/broken. That doesn't mean that an axle failure couldn't be the source, either. This definitely needs to have an inspection to determine what has failed...
