My brand new tires on my passenger side of my car I bought Monday spontaneously burst on the highway after driving it maybe a total of 60 miles since I got the new tires. what could have caused this Mechanic's Assistant: How old are the tires? And have they been a problem in the past? No. They were less than 24 hours old. I bought them brand new Mechanic's Assistant: What is the make/model/year of your car? 2017 Ford Fiesta Mechanic's Assistant: Are you fixing your Fiesta yourself? What have you tried so far? I took it to the shop I had the tires replaced at (mike bass Ford) and I am waiting to hear back from them on what they think is the cause but I wanted another experts opinion before I go back in and talk with them

With over 20 years working at a dealership, from my experience, you must have ran something over on the highway that would have caused the tires to blow out. There may be signs of that with a closer examination.

There was nothing in the way that I hit though. I had my eyes on the road and it was clear, not even a chip of ice. And it was both of the new tires I had put on. Someone slashed my tires on my passenger side and so I had to get both of them replaced on Monday. I got the car 6 pm on Monday, drove to work and back. And left for work Tuesday and only the 2 brand new ones blew outI have a picture of my car from the side of the road if you want to see it

I understand. Was the tire pressure light on when you picked up the car or while you driving it? Before the blowout.

My tire sensors weren’t going off so I do not think so. I have been researching a lot of stuff and I am wondering could this happen from the tires being over filled?I also wanted to know if there was a potential issue with [suspension](/topics-suspension-ford/) or misalignment , is it possible for brand new tires to wear down in such a short amount of time? My drive to work is 26 miles, so I drove approximately 62 miles on the tires before this happened.

Maybe, that could happen from overfilled tires. I have never heard of that happening though. I would think the pressure would have to be extremely high. High enough where you would probably notice the car pulling to one side or driving unusual. And if the tire pressure light was not on before hand it would seem like an instant loss of air.
Automotive Expert
Once again, if the suspension was that far out of alignment to wear that fast, you probably wouldnt even be able to drive the car because the steering would just be fighting itself.

I also wanted to know if there was a potential issue with suspension or misalignment , is it possible for brand new tires to wear down in such a short amount of time? Idrove approximately 62 miles on the tires before this happened.Thank you. So what do you think was the cause?
Automotive Expert
Like I said, I dont think it could be from improper installation. Faulty tires, maybe. Not that common. But it does seem like something may have got run over on that side of the road. Maybe a piece of metal that was hard to see. Hopefully looking at the tread in the center, when the wheel is off can lead to seeing a puncture.

Thank you so much for your help I really appreciate it!!
Automotive Expert
