My car started sputtering and shut off when I had to make a hard stop. Took it to a local mechanic and he said the oil was low and could’ve shifted forward and dirtied up the engine and motor. He emptied and changed the oil and filter and said it was good to go. Got it home with it only shutting off after initially leaving. Tried to drive it tonight and it’s sputtering again and the engine light came back on. It drives fine until I have to make a stop. That’s when it’ll sputter and sometimes shut off completely. Any help is greatly appreciated

Hi Charles. Thanks for contacting us tonight. Typically when a car sputters it’s due to fuel delivery or ignition issues. While dirty oil or low oil levels can cause harmonic issues, it’s pretty clear that initial diagnosis was incorrect. I think your best bet is to have a professional mechanic come to your location to complete an on-site inspection, so they can test drive the vehicle with you and attempt to replicate the symptoms. This should give them a better starting point to correctly diagnose this problem, so the right repairs can be completed.
