While I'm driving usually once I hit at least 45-50 mph, if I push on the gas just a smidge going up an incline or to just gain a few more mph my rpms will jump from 1.5/2 to 4/5, the needle will stick there for a bit and slowly c...
While I'm driving usually once I hit at least 45-50 mph, if I push on the gas just a smidge going up an incline or to just gain a few more mph my rpms will jump from 1.5/2 to 4/5, the needle will stick there for a bit and slowly come down then my car jerks and it's not a super easy jerk. I drive a 2017 dodge journey
Mechanic's Assistant: Have you noticed an increase in fuel consumption? And how does the Journey start—same as usual?
Starts just fine, and not a huge difference that I've noticed in fuel. I'm a stay at home mom so most days I will only drive 10-20 miles a day if that
Mechanic's Assistant: Are you fixing your Journey yourself? What have you tried so far?
No Im not a mechanic, check engine is on so had it read, I'm not exact sure on codes however the gym who hooked it up said he seem stop think it could be vvt selenoid cause problems and that it came up with vvt code, however a week later my dad hooked it up to read codes and he said there was no code for that on their.
Mechanic's Assistant: Anything else you want the Mechanic to know before I connect you?
Now while I'm driving my rpms will shoot up and not come back down. my engine sounds like it's reving in neutral and I have to pull over and shut my vehicle off to reset it. also when it does this I can barely accelerate and begin to slow down not being able to but my mph I don't beleive are showing the true speed when this happens

I suspect you've got a faulty Throttle Position Sensor based on the symptoms provided.

Have a certified mobile mechanic diagnose what's wrong with your car, at your home or office.
If your car is equipped with a Blind Spot Information system (BLIS), which not all Ford Fusions do, it means that you have an additional aid in avoiding accidents. The system works to detect objects in your car’s blind spots,...
If you are noticing that the clutch is getting too easy to push, this could indicate that your clutch pressure plate is growing weak from broken or overheated springs in the clutch. It could be something else if you have...
This component is called the Engine Splash Shield or Engine Splash Guard. For your car, the Part # looks to be 2465201523. You can get in touch with a Mercedes Benz dealership so they can confirm this.
Most likely, the basic problem is a failure of one (or both) of the rear wheel speed sensors. These sensors drive first - the speedometer and ABS, and second - influence engine/transmission control. The car "sees" no real speed, but...
The best way to get these stains off of your headliner would be to purchase some upholstry shampoo from your local auto parts store. Then, spray some of the cleaner on to a soft cloth. Use the soft cloth in...
Hi there. The transmission could have overheated as the vehicle was trying to escape the snow. Going back and forth many times will overheat the transmission fluid and make it boil. This will cause clutch materials within the transmission to...
Hello - check fluid level in the transmission, and for problem code, whether the Check Engine light is one or not. I suspect it will be. This sounds like a failure internal to the transmission, clutches (https://www.yourmechanic.com/article/does-an-automatic-transmission-have-a-clutch), valve body or...
Hi there - to detect a failed motor/transmission mount (https://www.yourmechanic.com/article/symptoms-of-a-bad-or-failing-engine-mount), a technician may use a jack or large pry bar to attempt to lift or move the engine/transmission to determine loose motion - indicating a failed mount. Some motor mounts...
There may be trapped air in the cooling system. Air can get trapped if you drain coolant and then refill the system without purging. Trapped air can cause overheating by blocking coolant flow and can also faulty heater operation. Other...
