My wife has a 2013 Chevy Malibu Eco and it is making a clicking noise but stops when you accelerate. She was driving home today and the car stalled twice.
Mechanic's Assistant: Where exactly do you think the noise is coming from? And how long has this been going on?
It sounds like under the hood near the [engine](/topics-engine-chevy/). It started about a week or so ago
Mechanic's Assistant: Are you fixing your Malibu yourself? What have you tried so far?
I am going to fix it myself because we don't have the funds to take it to a mechanic. I haven't tried anything yet but was reading it may be the throttle body?

Hi, my name is\*\*\*\*\* to justansweer. Lets see if we cant get you rolling again.
So, when this ticking noise occurs, are you slowing down or driving at highway speeds, or does it while idling at a stop sign?
**\*\*As far as phone calls, If you didn't request it, it is most likely the Website prompting you, not me. A Live Call is a "Premium Service" and will cost more money. I prefer communicating via this site, but in some cases a phone call may be recommended.\*\***

It ticks when it's idle and driving. It kind of stops when we accelerate.Today it caused my wife's car to stall twice on the highway

Have you had the oil changed lately, or have you checked the oil level?

I haven't checked it but my wife checks the indicator on her car's computer regularly. She was told by the dealership to wait till it says 5% to change the oil

Thank you. I'm just wondering if the ticking noise is due to low oil level. A low oil level will also cause the car to stall due to low oil pressure. Is there anyway you can check the oil level to confirm that this is not the issue?

She is having her dad check it right now. I'm at work so I can't physically do it. She will get back pretty quick

Hi there. The cam and crankshaft position sensors (https://www.yourmechanic.com/article/symptoms-of-a-bad-or-failing-crankshaft-position-sensor) control the TIME in which the spark plug ignites; not the actual action of the plugs igniting.
