Hello,
Welcome to Just Answer
My name is \*\*\*\*\* \*\*\*\*\* I've been an automotive engineer since 1996 and together we're going to solve this issue.
I understand that having your trusted vehicle let you down can be frustrating as it rarely occurs at a convenient time, however I will do my best to either help you make the repairs yourself or at least understand the issue so you know what is involved.
I'd say from your description it sounds like the [head gasket](/topics-head-gasket-chevy/) has failed on the [engine](/topics-engine-chevy/) and this is the reason it no longer starts and was overheating
the next step should be to do a compression test across all cylinders as they should all be within 10-15 psi of each other and I suspect that you will find you have 1 or 2 cylinders with no compression at all
Still not sure what you need?
