Hi there, Sorry to hear about all your car troubles. My Name is \*\*\*\*\* \*\*\*\*\* I am an ASE Master Tech here to assist you with your vehicle. Please understand I am not there with you, But I am here to help. Any information about what is going on is greatly appreciated. The system will ask for a phone call, Please let me know if you want this option as I am not always available to do so. Be aware that I am assisting many customers at the same time and will get back to you as quickly as I can but I cannot get answers immediately as I am not a computer. I like to research each answer before I get back to you to ensure that I give out the correct info. Thank you for understanding. What was going on with the truck and now? Have you pulled any trouble codes with a code reader yet?

When I hooked code reader up it says error
Automotive Expert
This might indicate a faulty Computer module/broken wire or blown fuse. I would first suggest checking the vehicle with another code reader to see if you get the same results.

Ok I will
Automotive Expert
Thanks!

Checked with different code reader and it said linking error

It sounds like you may be having a PCM failure or circuit issues with this vehicle. You will first want to inspect all interior and under hood fuses to make sure none are blown. If none are blown you will need to do the following. If you are not familiar with electrical diagnosis this may be the time to tow the vehicle into a local repair shop to do this testing and find the culprit of this fault. First you will want to Disconnect the Electronic Brake Control Module (EBCM). Then see if your scan tool will start talking to the vehicle. This would indicate the EBCM is faulty or has a short in the wiring. Next find pin 2, a Purple wire at the Data Link Connector (DLC). Then check the wire to the Vehicle Control Module (VCM), Purple wire, pin 11 in the Black connector. Make sure to disconnect this connector and then do a continuity test from each connector. If ok then you will need to Check all power and grounds to the Vehicle Control Module (VCM). The PCM power feeds are pin 13, a Brown wire, pin 18 a Pink wire in the Black connector, pin 4 Pink in the Blue connector and pin 21 Orange of the white connector. The PCM grounds are pins 17, 18, Tan/White, Black/White wires in the white connector.

Checked voltage and grounds to vcm no voltage on 18 pin black connecter and no ground on 18 pin white conxnecter
Automotive Expert
These are your ground circuits. So you will just want to make sure they are tight/clean and the ground location is clean.

The 18 pin on white comes out and goes into 26 pin on red connecter
Automotive Expert
On the link that I sent over for Red nothing goes into #26. Are you sure this is the correct pin?

I'm sure I checked several times
Automotive Expert
I am going to opt out as it seems the info I sent over may be incorrect and I cannot find anything different in my search.

Hi, I'm David, what [engine](/topics-engine-chevy/) is in the truck?

4.3
Automotive Expert
ok, give me a few to look at some schematics so you do not have 12 volts going to the crank sensor with the key on at the pink wire?
Automotive Expert
Ill be back in a bit

On the blue connecter yes
Automotive Expert
yes, you do have 12 volts at the crank sensor connectors pink wire or you do not?

I have voltage on pink wire blue connecter
Automotive Expert
there's only one connector for the crank sensor. why do you keep referring to it as a blue connector?

If you talking about voltage at the crank sensor it self no voltage at the sensor but there are no pink wires going to the crank sensorI was referring to the blue connected at the vcm
Automotive Expert
if this is a 4.3 there absolutely should be a pink wire. (see attachment) I'm not worried about the vcm right now

I apologize there is a pink wire there is no voltage to it
Automotive Expert
key on?

Key on no voltage
Automotive Expert
ok check ECM 1 fuse under the hood

Fuse is good
Automotive Expert
ok. does that fuse have 12 volts dc to it?

it does have 12 volts
Automotive Expert
ok then you have an open wire between the fuse box and the crank sensor

Found open wire fixed that got truck started ran for a few minutes died no spark coming out of coil
