Hi Rebecca. Nice to see you today! I'm sorry to hear you are having this problem. I know this can be frustrating. Rebecca, when you say is just clicks, is this a 1-click per start attempt?

Ok, great, Thank-you Rebecca. Please give me one moment to type out some information for you. Sit tight one minute... I'll be right back!

Okay
Automotive Expert
Thanks for holding, Rebecca. First I would recommend the battery be tested. The battery needs a full 12v to turn the starter over. The accessories will work on only 9v. You can test the battery with a volt meter. Local parts stores will also test the battery for free. If the battery checks ok, then the problem will lie with a failing starter solenoid. On this vehicle, the solenoid is mounted to the side of the starter motor and is usually replaced as a starter motor assembly (the new starter comes with a new solenoid). Inspect the connections at the solenoid and make sure they are tight and free of any corrosion. If no problems are found, replacing the starter should solve the problem. The starter is located on the lower, rear of the [engine](/topics-engine-chevy/). You will need access to the underside of the vehicle for replacement.

What if it's the anti theft system making it not start I just got my car serviced a few weeks ago & everything was fine
Automotive Expert
If this were an anti-theft issue, you would get no response at all. Or, the vehicle would spin over correctly, but not start due to lack of fuel being sent.

But that light is what comes on when we try to start it that's why I suggested it was the anti theft system
Automotive Expert
Like I mentioned above, a theft-system problem will not result in 'clicking' when starting. If/when a battery falls below 12v, this can trip the anti-theft system. I would recommend testing the battery voltage, and if good, looking into the starter solenoid.
