I have a 2009 Chevrolet Silverado with a 5.3, it recently developed a ticking sound confirmed by a mechanic to be a bad lifter. I have a 1 1/2 hour trip to make in the next day or so, is it safe to drive the vehicle for this extended amount of time? Mechanic's Assistant: Where exactly do you think the noise is coming from? And how long has this been going on? It is a bad lifter and it’s been going on about a week or so Mechanic's Assistant: What is the model of your '09 Chevy? Silverado Mechanic's Assistant: Are you fixing your vehicle yourself? What have you tried so far? The first thing that happened was the check [engine](/topics-engine-chevy/) light, and traction control light came on and it behave idling rough. When the code was read it said Cyl 4 misfire. I replaced the [spark plug](/topics-spark-plug-chevy/), wire, coil pack, and injector and nothing changed. I plan on replacing the motor soon but can’t before this trip. Mechanic's Assistant: Anything else you want the Mechanic to know before I connect you? No maam

Hello I'm Rick from just answer, sorry to hear about your Silverado issues as I know how frustrating this can be If you see a phone call request you may just ignore that..... Was a lifter tech I think he would be okay making the drive as long as you have plenty of oil in this and the noise doesn't get any louder

I spun on some ice. Now my car doesn't seem to have any oil pressure.
You didn't say weather you had a "rough landing." If in the process of spinning you ran over some debris or maybe a curb, you could have damaged your oil pan and lost your oil. If you haven't already looked...
what would a bad transmission control solenoid do?
The fault will depend on exactly which solenoid has failed. Typically a modern transmission will have shift solenoids, a lockup solenoid, a torque converter clutch solenoid, and possibly a solenoid for electronic pressure control. The more common symptoms of a...
