Well, You’ve hit on many of the common failure items except one. Your car has a large fuel pump relay that is prone to failure and is usually the first thing I look at on the old 124 body cars that don’t start. Open the gas cap and listen at the filler neck while a helper cranks the car. If you don’t hear the pumps running, then you need to check the relay. It is about the size of a cigarette pack and lives near the battery. If the pumps are running, then the next thing I would look for is air leaks. Check all of the vacuum lines and rubber boots under the hood for good connection and condition. Any air that gets into the engine without going through proper channels will cause a problem. After that it can get pretty technical and needs proper equipment and know how to diagnose. You can contact YourMechanic to have a technician come out to your home or office to check out your Mercedes and let you know what is the solution.
