I own a g37x and my power steering pump is leaking. What looks like a rubber sticking out the pump itself. Mechanic's Assistant: When was the fluid last checked? Have you heard any whining noises while turning the wheel? I had the pump replaced and no there’s no power steering fluid inside the compartment Mechanic's Assistant: What year is your G37x? 2012 Mechanic's Assistant: Are you fixing your G37x yourself? What have you tried so far? I went to a local mechanic for repairs, they changed the pressure control and pump. After that this problem appeared. Mechanic's Assistant: Anything else you want the Mechanic to know before I connect you? Iv had a mechanic try to fix the issue and he stated he knew what he was doing to basically doing a bad job and waisting my money.

Hello goodevening, no the fluid leaked out while I was driving so no fluid currently.

Okay, have you filled it up with fluid to see if you gain power assist? Is it possible they did not fill the system back up with fluid? Most of the fluid will drain from the system when the pump is replaced. Sorry, please disregard. To confirm, the fluid leaked out while you were driving, correct?

while I was driving the pump started leaking. When I let dry I see a rubber sticking out the top part of the pump.

My assumption, and just because it's is so common, is that they did not replace the copper washer on the banjo bolt at the power steering pump where the pressure line connects. Most likely they used the old washer or failed to put a washer on it. . The part sticking out of the pump appears to be one of the power steering lines. It's difficult to see in those pictures but I circled the bolt that I believe is causing the leak. This will require some of the items to be removed but the pump does not have to be removed again to replace it. Best option would be to see if you can get your money back from them and have a qualified mechanic repair it correctly. This is a fairly straightforward and simple repair that should not have this issue (unless we have a defective pump out of the box, which does happen rarely). .
