Mechanic's Assistant: Just to clarify, what are the exact lights you're talking about?
Maintenance required light I apologize
Mechanic's Assistant: What is the make/model/year of your car?
2006 Scion tC
Mechanic's Assistant: Are you fixing your tC yourself? What have you tried so far?
Well I haven't tried anything so far because the light just came on yesterday and everything that I have read about it says that typically the maintenance required by only comes on whenever the oil is needing to be changed about every 5000 miles
Mechanic's Assistant: Anything else you want the Mechanic to know before I connect you?
Well yes about 5 months ago the torque converter locked out solenoid had gone bad and wasn't engaging on the highway and overdrive so we replaced it we as in myself and my ex well now it is acting as if it's again failing and I'm wondering could that be the torque converter itself making the lockout solenoid go bad

Basically this means when the last oil change was done, they didn't reset the maintenance light.
You're options are to reset it and keep track of the mileage yourself, or leave it on and keep track of the mileage. The key is to have them reset it after the oil change even if it's not on.
Here is the procedure to reset it.
Step 1
Turn the tC's key to the "On" position. Press the trip odometer reset stem until "Trip A" displays on the odometer screen. Hold the stem with "Trip A" displayed.
Step 2
Turn the tC's key to the "Off" position, and then turn it back on.
Continue holding the trip odometer reset stem until five dashes appear on the odometer screen. Release the stem. The maintenance light is now off.
This will reset the light for 5k miles.
Please let me know if there is more I can do to help.
