Sounds like you are having a problem with the throttle body and maybe in need of a minor tune up.
If the pedal has no reaction then the throttle body or accelerator pedal could be at fault and the flashing check engine light is a misfiring engine?The shop can confirm this after doing a diagnostic scan for malfunction?
From the malfunction code or codes you will know what has to be repaired or replaced for a fix?If the shop gets back to you ask him for the malfunction code or codes and I can help you with them?Kindest regards Greg
