Mechanic's Assistant: Just to clarify, can you tell me which light it is? And does it blink first, then stay on steady?
The little orange engine light, and it was blinking and then stayed on
Mechanic's Assistant: What is the make/model/year of your car?

Sounds like you are having a problem with the throttle body and maybe in need of a minor tune up.
If the pedal has no reaction then the throttle body or accelerator pedal could be at fault and the flashing check engine light is a misfiring engine? The shop can confirm this after doing a diagnostic scan for malfunction?
From the malfunction code or codes you will know what has to be repaired or replaced for a fix?If the shop gets back to you ask him for the malfunction code or codes and I can help you with them?Kindest regards Greg

Have a certified mobile mechanic diagnose what's wrong with your car, at your home or office.
It’s important that you have a clear view out of the windshield and all the other windows in your car. Of course, it seems to take very little to fog them up, and during the winter, ice and freezing rain...
I strongly suggest allowing a technician to inspect the vehicle's electrical system (https://www.yourmechanic.com/services/electric-problems-inspection) as it may simply be wire out of place or a blown fuse causing the vehicle not to start. When immobilizer systems become problematic usually immobilizer components...
Unfortunately it looks like there can be a few different reasons as why your Ford Taurus is idling high. Some of these causes for high idling could be a failing Mass Airflow sensor, a faulty Idle Air Control Valve or...
Assuming the spark is adequate and fuel pressure is within specifications, an extremely worn out set of spark plugs (https://www.yourmechanic.com/services/spark-plugs-replacement) may be the culprit. It could be a restricted exhaust system (i.e. a plugged catalytic converter) if you had a...
The noise in the engine may be from running with the ignition timing too far advanced from a malfunctioning mass air flow sensor. The mass air flow sensor could be giving false readings, which will cause the computer to compensate...
This may be a result of low transmission fluid (https://www.yourmechanic.com/services/transmission-fluid-service) or potentially a faulty transmission control module. A faulty transmission control module may cause a delay in acceleration or erratic shifting of gears. The transmission control module has various sensors...
Hi there. You might find it very helpful and cost effective to have one of our mobile mechanics complete a pre car purchase inspection (https://www.yourmechanic.com/services/pre-purchase-car-inspection); so they can inspect the vehicle and determine the condition of the vehicle and whether...
What you are describing sounds like a dirty or failing idle air control valve. The idle air control valve (https://www.yourmechanic.com/services/idle-control-valve-replacement) monitors the air intake as it is mixed with fuel prior to being injected into the engine at low speeds...
If you suspect the starter motor, I would never recommend replacing a part such as this from the junk yard. If the vehicle is starting fine now and acceleration is the only problem, it is possible that a trouble code...
