The engine was replaced by Holden 18months ago, then last month there was a fuel pump error which ended with Holden having to advise the mechanic what to do to correct the error (maybe was the sensor) anyway after paying $1400 thy now advise the engine mount needs replacing for $1600. They sold the car and have serviced/repaired it since new (10yrs) should they have not noticed the mount when they replaced the old engine with new?
Mechanic's Assistant: Are you certain it's the fuel pressure sensor that's in need of attention? What about the fuel rail? Have you checked it yet?
The dealership is saying they have fixed the problem but after the service the mount needs replacing. Thats the query now.
Mechanic's Assistant: What is the model/year of your Holden?
2010 V6 Commodore manual sedan
Mechanic's Assistant: Are you fixing your vehicle yourself? What have you tried so far?
The car has always gone back to the Holden dealership
Mechanic's Assistant: Anything else you want the Mechanic to know before I connect you?
No, just does he think that they should have seen the engine mount needed replacing when they replaced the old engine with the Holden provided new one?

Hi. I'm Daniel and assisting you today on your inquiry. I'm sorry to hear about the issue you have with your Holden.
From your description the engine replacement was 18 month ago.
Most likely the engine mounts were in good condition and failed in the time between the repairs, otherwis the shop should have noticed it.
Let me know if you have any further questions at this point.

Hi.
Following up on our conversation.
As mentioned, the shop should and would have noticed that the engine mounts failed when they did the engine replacement.
Most likely they unfortunately failed in the time between the last repair.
I'm sorry that you have to deal with this, I know it can be frustrating.
Let me know if I can provide anything else at this point.
Thanks.
Still not sure what you need?

Hello. I would need to check the transmission fluid (https://www.yourmechanic.com/services/transmission-fluid-service) condition to tell you for sure what is going on. If the fluid is dark or smells burnt then it more than likely needs a transmission. I usually scan the...
Hi, thanks for writing in. There are two possibilities here: either the physical temperature of the engine is indeed fluctuating significantly, or the sensor and/or circuit that feeds the temperature gauge is malfunctioning. The sensor (and circuit) can be tested...
Hello. Though there are a lot of possible causes of this, the most common is the crankshaft position sensor. These fail all of the time on this engine. Before I change it I would usually scan the computer for codes....
Hi there. Knocking noise from the engine is not good. Assuming, it is the engine knocking. A heavy consistent knock could be a connecting rod. A hollow knock (louder cold and quieter warm) could be a piston. Metal contamination in...

Hi There, There front motor mounts (https://www.yourmechanic.com/services/engine-mount-replacement) for your Dodge Intrepid should be the same for both driver and passenger sides. Hi Latrice. Thanks for sending in your question today. Yes - the radiator leak is likely the reason for the smoke. It would be a good idea to replace the radiator thermostat housing as soon as possible to reduce the...
Hi Becky. Thanks for contacting us today. When it gets extremely cold, it's quite common for cars to have difficulty starting. It's likely that the root issue was a battery with low cranking amps, but it's a smart idea to...
