Mechanic's Assistant: When was your last oil change?
Months ago
Mechanic's Assistant: Anything else we should know to help you?
I did put a quart in 3 weeks prior though

Hi Terry it's nice to meet you.
It sounds like you might be out of oil, I would start by checking it. I would also need clarification on what you mean by loss of control of the vehicle?

I mean I couldn't drive it forward. When I put my foot on the gas it didn't do anything.I put some engine oil in the car alreadyI was able to put it in neutral and push it out the road though. But whenever it was in drive t just drifted backwards. Also my battery symbol popped up the same time as my check engine symbol did

Ok, so the car was low on oil which is why that light came on then.
Whats the year, make model and engine size please? Also, does it have an automatic or manual transmission?

Ok,
If it's not moving forward for you then there is an issue with the transmission. I would check the transmission fluid to begin with and make sure it's full. It may smell burned and look black if it does, then that would indicate a internal transmission issue.
While the oil light may have meant it needed an oil change, at this point it sounds like your transmission is out, or the shifter cable is broken.

It looks good, so I would check the linkage, make sure it's connected and tight, this is under the airfilter box
If the battery light is on when it's running, it means the alternator isn't charging the battery.

Sorry I'm not sure where the air filter box isI don't see any lose connections relating to the transmission fluid

It sounds like you may need to have it towed to a shop to get a proper determination of the issue.

Yea I am getting it towed but I just want to see if it's something I could fixThanks anyways at least we can rule out the transmission issue. I think after putting oil in it and jumping my battery I should be ok. Hopefully
