I do not remember the full code. This issue happened 1 year and a half ago. Then last week where a shop said they died it and car was running fine. Now today its is back again.

Hi The symptoms should be enough for me to go on. Give me a few minutes to pull the schematics. This is likely related to the transmission range switch

At a stop, the car jerks, Only at a stop. a year and a half ago I broke my rear light and rain water got in there and engine light came on. They replaced the whole rear light assembly because they said the light failed telling transmission car is in reverse instead of drive so it jerks. They kept saying it had something to do with the lights sending signals. so last week they replaced all 8 lights in my rear saying that corrected the problem....but it didn't cause it started happening again today

HI Ok, going thru the schematics, the symptoms point to a faulty transmission range switch on the transmission. This does send the signal to the lamps for reverse. It is possible the the short in the rear lamp assembly has shorted the reverse circuit in the transmission range swtich This should be tested at this point Thanks for using Just Answer and letting me help you. I hope I provided what you needed. If you find more help is still needed, let me know by listing out any remaining questions you have on this concern. I hope the remainder of your day is well.

OK, quick question. Just changing out the light bulbs wouldn't correct the problem right, only a new transmission range switch would fix it??
Automotive Expert
HI that is correct

Last question, is the car safe to drive for the next day? I cant get to the repair shop until tomorrow afternoon
