My 2008 Scion tC (hatchback) is making really loud squeaking sounds from rear. It's not the hatchback door or tires, but it is driving me bonkers. It is especially loud when I drive over speed bumps or driveways ... it sounds like a rusty situation but IDK where it's coming from or what I can do ... I'd appreciate your help and response, if you have resources please include those also. Thanks!

Hi there! This is Dan. Sounds like you may have a dry bushing in the suspension of even heavy rust and something may have let loose? Best thing would be to get the car on an alignment rack (so suspension is loaded and not hanging), then have someone rock the rear of the car up and down to pinpoint the noise. If it is a dry bushing you can use WD40 or similar agent to spray the bushing and see if the noise temporarily subsides. Also try to move the exhaust around to be sure that isn't causing your issues.

awesome, I will do so! if it isn't a dry bushing, what else could it be?

Dry suspension bushing, rotted component that broke off, loose/rusty/broken exhaust hangers, rusty backing plate behind brakes, loose exterior body panel, loose items in rear trunk or hatch area, etc ... Best of luck - hope you find the issue!

thanks so much, I will refer to this LONG list in the future once I'vedone more inspections and research!

My left rear blinker isn't working but the front one is could it be a short in the wiring?
Hi there. Although it is possible that you have an electrical short on a wire heading to the rear or powering the rear blinker, it is more likely that you have an electrical relay or fuse issue. Most wires on...
Wipers won't stop when I use windshield washer fluid
It sounds like you may have a faulty wiper motor module (https://www.yourmechanic.com/services/windshield-wiper-module-replacement) that is allowing the motor to continue beyond the allotted time when spraying the washer fluid.
