Q: Can very dirty trans fluid make me car overheat?

asked by on December 02, 2017

Can very dirty trans fluid have any effect on how hot the engine runs.?

Hi Amber. Thanks for contacting us today. Although the cooling system of the car does not flow through the transmission, dirty transmission fluid can cause the transmission to overheat, cause more drag on the motor and increase the operating temperature of the engine in some cases. Whether or not it overheats is dependant upon the condition of the engine’s cooling system.
