Q: Can a leaky water pump cause an engine misfire?

asked by on January 11, 2018

Check engine light is on. Was told there is a misfire on one. I know I need to replace the water pump since it's leaking anti freeze. But will that solve the misfire code?

A water pump leak by itself cannot cause a misfire unless you overheated the engine and caused a blown head gasket or the coolant gets on spark plug wire causing misfire.
