This can be cause by either an emissions hose having a crack in it or being loose, or you may have a failed seal on the fuel pump on the top of the fuel tank. Both of these will cause a fuel smell so you will have to inspect all the lines coming from the tank. If they all look good then your fuel pump seal may be loose.
