SUV started to bounce a few months ago after going over any speed bumps, pot holes, etc. Went to dealer and was told my alternator needed replacing as well as shocks (front and back) and that would solve the bouncing problem. Now the bouncing has started again but it happens all of the time...even on smooth surfaces. what could cause this???I spent $3500 on the repairs to fix it but its still bouncing

If the ride height is within spec, that is the coil springs are not weak, the only cause of the vehicle failing to settle immediately (i.e., bouncing) after encountering road irregularities is defective shocks or defective strut assemblies with built in shocks. Check to see if there is any significant visible oil leaking from any of the shock/strut assemblies. If there is, that is one indication of a failed unit, however, failure does not always result in oil leakage. If the shock/strut replacement was warrantied, and the units are confirmed defective, obviously make a claim.
