David made an initial diagnosis based upon quite proper analysis of the problem (a failed brake switch connection to the auto change lever). When this did not cure the fault he was determined to ascertain the cause of the problem and spent a lengthy period of time stripping down the auto change console area eventually finding a manufacturer's fault whereby a trapped wire during initial making of the vehicle eventually led to that wire being severed and fried. Looking at it, this would have been a very difficult fault to have discovered for the average mechanic at a main dealer in my view, but then David is no 'average' auto mechanic. He was meticulous in eliminating possible causes and finding this minute problem in a very small and tight area of the constructed transmission unit was indeed an incredible feat of attention to detail.
