What is the Power Steering Control Valve all about?

Power steering pumps create high pressure in order to push fluid through the system, into the power steering rack, and provide good handling. In most setups, the power steering control valve is located at the outlet of the pump, where the fluid leaves the pump and enters the supply line. It regulates the pressure of the fluid in the line to the correct PSI. If the valve fails, the fluid pressure may become too low or too high. Excessive pressure can cause damage to the supply line, creating leaks and fire hazards (power steering fluid is flammable).
