What is the Brake Light Bulb all about?

Brake light bulbs are located at the back of the car, housed inside a protective covering (lens). I'm actually quite mechanically skilled but have been putting off my intake manifold repair for over a year. I had the box of gaskets so long they have become lost in the garage.
