Can you tell us more about what you do at YourMechanic?
I joined as the Design and UX lead. As the sole designer at the company (currently), I will help out with UX/UI design on all product offerings and platforms, while contributing to customer communications via email design.
Why did you join YourMechanic?
I find the product offerings at YourMechanic to be extremely interesting and truly valuable service as “convenience” continues to be a determining factor in customers’ decision. From an internal company standpoint, I was also drawn to the opportunity to join the team at a time when process and growth are redefined. For the cherry on top, it was also refreshing to have such positive interactions with all individuals during my interview process.
What was your first car and what do you love or hate about it?
My first car was a 2002 Chevy Blazer. I loved SUVs but hated that car. I later came to find out that it has horrible consumer reports for the brakes locking up. There were at least a few incidents where my brakes locked up on the freeway and I wasn’t sure I was going to be able to come to a stop.
What’s your dream car?
The Range Rover is a great looking car, but I’m not sure I want the reputation that tends to go with the car. If I ever switched over to a sedan, I’d probably choose an Audi or Tesla (if money is not an issue...this is a dream, right?)
What are you passionate about?
On a professional level, I am incredibly empathetic and passionate about the customers’ experience. I am a firm believer that doing right by the customer above all will always promote the highest business return in the long run. On a personal level, I am most passionate about spending time with my family. I am happily married to my beautiful wife Leighanne and am beyond grateful for our 9-month-old son Camden and 3-year-old yellow lab, Ivy.
What do you like to do when you’re not at work?
When I’m not at work, I love to cook, work on “handyman” projects around the house, or relax with some wine tasting activities. Regarding the cooking activities, I have recently got my wife interested in cooking by enforcing my rule of, “the first step is to pour a glass of wine or open a beer.”
What kind of music do you like to listen to?
Depends on the setting and mood, but usually Indie Rock, Dance/Electronic, or “Ambient Chill”. From time to time I have to tolerate Country out of respect for my wife.
What’s your favorite place you’ve ever visited and why?
For our honeymoon, my wife and I went to Saint Lucia. It was such a relaxing experience accompanied by an exciting culture and great food. I’m sure the sentimental attachment of celebrating my new nuptials also boosts my fond memory of the trip.
