What is the Turn Signal Bulb all about?

The turn signal bulbs are located inside the light assemblies on all four corners of the car. The turn signal switch takes the drivers input and sends power to the corresponding bulb to inform other drivers that you intend to change lanes or make a turn.

Keep in mind:

If all four turn signal bulbs stop flashing or lighting up, it is likely that the turn signal flasher has gone bad, not the bulbs.

How it's done:

  • Verify that the turn signal bulb does not flash.
  • Remove the bulb if found faulty.
  • Check the turn signal flasher.
  • Check proper operation of turn signals.

Our recommendation:

The mechanic should check all the lights in your car every time you get a major service.

What common symptoms indicate you may need to replace the Turn Signal Bulb?

  • Turn signal lights are not flashing or lighting up.

How important is this service?

Turn signals exist to alert your surroundings that your vehicle will be making a turn. When you press the lever on your steering column, front and rear turn signal bulbs flash, to let drivers around you know of your intention to make a turn. When a turn signal bulb dies, that turn signal will no longer light up. This means that your vehicle will not alert drivers in front of you (if it’s the front turn signal bulb) or behind you (if it’s the rear turn signal bulb) that you plan to turn, which makes your vehicle a safety hazard. Not having a functioning turn signal is also illegal, and carries a hefty fix-it ticket price.

Chrysler LHS V6-3.5L - Electric Problems - Austin, Texas
I had problems with first two mechanics that came out.The first one did a jury rigged job on a simple over heating problem and lied about it.The second mechanic that came to do the work that was recommended by first mechanic (a simple spark plug change)was performed improperly and mechanic left without telling me he could not do work.So after talking back and forth on sunday to customer service and having to wait for Andrew a supervisor to come back to work so they could discuss it with him.Andrew called back to not only doboth jobs at no cost to me and was also willing to make a rental car available to my wife and I so we could make important doctor appointments due to our disability.I will hole heatedly recommend Your Mechanic to friends and family because of the way the bent over back words to make the problems we incurred right. Thank You John and Cathy Hinojosa

Chrysler LHS V6-3.5L - Radiator Flush - Williamsburg, Virginia
Matthew is an honest, dedicated, and kind mechanic who will go above and beyond to have all your questions answered, whether they are related to the service you're paying for or not. He helped me save hundreds of dollars by showing me the parts of the car that was functional, even though the other shops told me they need to be replaced. He's very friendly and fun to talk to as well! It really does make a difference when a mechanic takes you step by step visually to tell you what your car needs and doesn't need.

Chrysler LHS V6-3.5L - Battery - Orangevale, California
Pros: 1. Quickly assessed the symptom was a dysfunctional battery, not a dead starter, as I had assumed. 2. When I advised him I had ongoing challenges with the battery draining, causing me to have to put the battery charger on it for 48 hours to recharge, he went to battery, looked at its specifications, and advised me, the auto repair shop that replaced the battery a few years ago, had installed a battery model that was woefully inadequate to handle the electric load for my luxury sedan. 3. Personable, polite, and courteous. 4. Patient, answering my questions, helping me understand what he was doing to resolve the issue. 5. Saved me over $100 on the service bill. Cons: 1. Not equipped with cover to place over vehicle to prevent marring the car finish. I put thick blankets on the car. This is not a huge issue. I've noticed other in-home mechanics also are not equipped with the item. Just the car repair shops. So, if you have anyone come to your garage to work on your car, you should be pro-active and put a cover on the interior carpet and thick (quilt type) cloth for the car area being worked on.
