Q: Do i have to disconnect battery to change brake pads?

asked by on July 20, 2017

Just wonder if i need to disconnect the battery before change brake pads?

My car has 65500 miles.
My car has a manual transmission.

Hi there. The general rule of thumb is to remove the battery cables anytime you work on any component that is electrically powered or has an electrically powered sensor. So, in this case, it would be a good idea to remove the battery cables when working on brake system on your BMW. Buying a repair and service manual for your BMW would be a good idea - so you can follow their instructions.
