I have a 2010 armada. the vehicle theft system has been started and the engine only cranks. i was wondering if i can restart the system by using a keyfob from a 06 armada? Mechanic's Assistant: Have you checked the fob's battery? No sr Mechanic's Assistant: Are you fixing your Armada yourself? What have you tried so far? Yea I'm fixing it my self. i swap the bcm, immobilizer, ecm, check the CAN system wiring.

Good Afternoon, my name is \*\*\*\*\* \*\*\*\*\* ill be helping you, so sorry to hear about the issues here on the Armada. Now just so im clear you only have the key fob correct, this is a push button start? Also has the new BCM or immobilizer been programmed to the vehicle when swapped?

yea but the keyfob is from a 06 armada, and no they haven't been programmed i dont have the tools for that. but i had a 01 maxima and around that time i was able just to ground the lock and unlock wire also the key sensor wire, and i was able to start the maximais something i can i do to the armada similar to what i did to the maxima, or just cancel the immobilizer? sorry to many questions at once
Automotive Expert
ah okay, unfortunately this setup is not the same as your 01 Maxima. in order to have the vehicle start you will need to have the immobilizer and the BCM programmed again. This does require a Consult 2 scan tool im afraid.

theres nothing else i can do?
Automotive Expert
unfortunately no, your next step is to visit the dealer.

if i would to just put the old bcm back, is there something i can do?
Automotive Expert
it wont clear the security mode im afraid so you will likely still require programming

whats the GET OUT OF LOCK PROCEDURE. ?
Automotive Expert
the BCM and immobilizer are connected to via the consult 2 scan tool and the vin is confirmed and matched in both as well as clearing any stored fault codes and ensuring that both are in the ready state. afterwards the key is also programmed in to be recognized as well

theres a couple of procedures in the service or repair manual, that are done WITHOUT THE CONSULT 2 SCAN TOOL. so there just so you can read them? im surre that their there for a reason, because after you swap the immobilizer and or the bcm, your only option is not just the reprogrammed procedure.but thank you very much for your time. Have a nice day.
Automotive Expert
just to recap doing the programming WITHOUT THE CONSULT 2 only applies when the security system is working correctly and one of the 3 components is replaced (bcm, immobilizer, or key) not all 3. im happy to have helped. best of luck with the dealer visit!

recap 1-i didn't say i replace the key recap 2- i told you i have the old bcm as well as the old immobilizer. recap 3- i ask if i swap to the old bcm, that would be no replacing any of them 3. so i have all 3 things, IS THERE ANYTHING I CAN DO?
Automotive Expert
like i mentioned, no. your next step is the dealer or a shop with the correct equipment

Do wiring harnesses need to be replaced?
As automotive electrical systems increase with each model year, so does the amount of wiring required to operate them. BMW says their current models can contain up to a mile of wires weighing as much as 130lbs! All of this...
Sputtering and shaking - 2001 Dodge Grand Caravan
Hello. If this occurred right after the oil change then the first thing I would do is check the oil. This will occur if there is too much oil in the engine or if they forgot to put oil back...
I can hear a rattling noise under my hood close to the outside of the motor
Hey there. I would not expect anything in or around the oil pan itself to make rattling noises that might be considered musical. Heat shields for exhaust manifolds and other metal brackets and shielding can make lots of rattling noises,...

The code P0011 (https://www.yourmechanic.com/article/p0011-obd-ii-trouble-code-camshaft-position-a-timing-over-advanced-or-system-performance-bank-1-by-jay-safford) is stored for the camshaft position sensor is not registering to the computer. Check the camshaft position sensor and see if its working and plugged in. It is possible that the sensor has failed...
Clicking noise after car has been started while idling
Hello, thank you for writing in. The ticking noise may be coming from the alternator itself, or from the drive belt that powers it. When the vehicle is cold it can be loud and need a moment to warm up....
Hi Noe, This is my question. I have a 2006 VW TDI 1.9 and it leaks antifreeze from the reseivour tank at the cap pressure relieve
Hi there. It sounds like there may be combustion gases entering the cooling system. The hard starting could be due to coolant in the combustion chamber upon startup; the coolant leaks into the cylinder during a cold soak. There could...
had to make a sudden stop and now car makes a clicking sound when step on brakes
Hi there. The clicking sound you hear when braking might be a worn suspension component and not related to the brakes. Sway bar links for example can make clicking sounds when the bushings are worn. If ball joints are worn,...
Chevy Malibu wouldn't start after short drive, let sit few days and it started and ran great for a week now it won't start again,
You need to check to see if you have ignition spark to spark plugs and check to see if you have fuel pressure at the fuel injectors. Scan the computer for stored codes to see if you have a code...
